ABOUT US

A Rich History of Learning

Eastport Elementary School, situated on Montauk Highway in Eastport, New York, carries a long and storied tradition as a cornerstone of learning in the local community. Long before the formation of the modern Eastport-South Manor Central School District, the brick building served as Eastport High School, accommodating students across all grade levels—from kindergarten through 12th grade—under one roof for the original Eastport Union Free School District. Over decades of growth, regional consolidation, and shifting community needs, the historic facility was transformed to specifically serve upper elementary students (grades 3–6), carrying forward its legacy while modernizing its educational programs. Today, Eastport Elementary remains deeply connected to its past—from serving as a historic hub during local events to preserving community traditions—while continuing to serve as a vibrant, nurturing environment for young learners.

  • A group of students walk away from the school building, carrying backpacks.

If there is an emergency or if it is necessary to pickup your child before the end of the school day, please do so prior to 2:35 pm. You will need to park in the visitor spaces in the main lot, not where the buses are lined up. Please send your child to school with a note, when possible, stating that you will be picking them up at a specific time and your child will need to provide this note to their classroom teacher.

  • Please update your Emergency Contact Information in Infinite Campus as soon as possible. Also, please give careful consideration to the additional names you submit; these persons should be easily accessible to the school, and people to whom you will entrust the care of your child in the event we are unable to reach you in an emergency.

  • The Shared Decision Making Committee is a mandatory committee required by the New York State Education Department. The committees meet regularly at each school, and are comprised of teachers, parents, administrators, and community members. The purpose of SDM is to work together on activities and initiatives that benefit the total student body.

Shared decision making is driven by the belief that the most effective choices are made when those affected by the decisions are involved in the decision making process. It is a process by which members of the educational community cooperate in identifying and implementing activities to advance and improve learning.
